Outreach Programmes

A big part of the MHM vision is to make knowledge about trauma and how to recover from it more accessible. For this reason, since 2021, we have been collaborating with other organisations to psycho-educate groups and individuals about the nature of trauma and effective ways to heal.

PACE Curriculum Project

Parvaaz Adolescents Centre for Education (PACE) is a programme managed by Nirantar Trust that focuses on educating adolescent girls and young women who have either dropped out, never-enrolled, or going to school but have low-level literacy. Their curriculum uses a gender and sexuality lens and MHM helped them include a mental health lens to this material as well.

Nirantar Workshops

In a series of online workshops in 2021-22, MHM engaged with the NGO, Nirantar, in conversations related to gender-based violence, sexuality, and mental health. First, the workshops were conducted with the PACE team of educators. The second series was with the core team and Nirantar. These experiences taught us as well about the nuances of trauma work, which involve the dynamics of caste, patriarchy, queerphobia, and ableism.

Sahjani Shiksha Kendra

In 2023, we collaborated with Sahjani Shiksha Kendra (SSK), an NGO based in Lalitpur, UP that works for women's empowerment. A 4-day residential workshop on the mental health impact of gender-based violence was conducted under funding from the Mariwala Health Initiative. Participants included a team of local women working with SSK as activists.
